Hi, I'm Bryan

Founder of SustainBL.

I am a product designer with two decades of expertise in crafting solutions that genuinely make a difference in people's lives.

My journey into the realm of special education began a few years back, sparked by a personal connection - a family member struggling academically due to behavioral challenges.

This experience opened my eyes to both the strengths and shortcomings of the current special education system in our schools. Witnessing firsthand the ups and downs, I've gained valuable insights into where the system excels and where it falls short.

Motivated by this experience, I am now dedicated to transforming the special education landscape. Leveraging my professional skills and deep personal understanding, I am committed to creating positive changes for you and your child in the world of special education.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Document Simplification

Our team of expert professionals receives complex documents from parents, which they meticulously review and transform into easy-to-understand summaries. This process involves stripping away any confusing educational jargon and highlighting crucial information like deadlines, evaluation procedures, and potential accommodations. Our aim is to make these documents more accessible and comprehensible for parents.

Communication Summarization

Our specialists analyze the content of communications, pinpointing relevant keywords, events, and actions. They then skillfully craft a coherent summary, ensuring that parents gain a comprehensive understanding of the communications they have received. This process focuses on clarity and brevity, making it easier for parents to stay informed and engaged.

Actionable Insights

Based on the simplified documents and communication summaries, our team provides parents with practical tools to use in their daily lives or during important meetings like ARD and IEP. These tools are designed to be actionable and supportive, helping parents navigate the educational landscape more effectively.

  • A simplified summary of 4 to 6 documents

  • IEP at a glance, a one-page summary

  • Meeting reminders for significant events

  • An individual custom daily progress worksheet

  • An analysis of the goals for strengths and weaknesses

  • A list of questions to ask the school about the goals and the IEP

TO ASSURE HIGH QUALITY, ALL PACKAGE CONTENTS ARE REVIEWED BY EXPERIENCED PROFESSIONALS BEFORE WE SEND THEM OUT.

WHY THE LAST REVIEW IS IMPORTANT?

Our team specializes in uncovering the less obvious, yet critical issues in IEPs that might be missed at first glance.

What specific issues do we address?

Clarifying Goals and Objectives

Goals in an IEP can sometimes be vague or not adequately tailored to your child’s specific needs. Our staff meticulously reviews these goals to ensure they are clear, achievable, and effectively address your child’s unique educational requirements. This clarity is crucial for setting a clear path for your child's learning journey and measuring progress effectively.

Enhancing Communication

One of the biggest challenges in the IEP process is ensuring consistent and effective communication between parents and educational staff. Our team pays special attention to this aspect, looking for any gaps or misunderstandings in communication. They work towards bridging these gaps, ensuring that your concerns and inputs are fully considered and that you're kept informed about your child's progress and any changes in their educational plan.

Accurate Progress Monitoring

It's vital to track your child's progress against the goals set in the IEP accurately and consistently. Our staff scrutinizes the methods and frequency of progress monitoring included in the IEP. They look for ways to improve how your child's progress is measured and reported, ensuring that it reflects their true learning and development, and helps in making informed decisions about future educational strategies.

Let’s be specific. Trouble may be in the form of: generalized academic goals that are not measurable, the need for accommodations that are not met, or the behavioral goals that are not measured or tracked.
